Folder Concept
Folders provide additional model-neutral structuring possibilities for ice.NET
data. Objects can be organized within project-oriented, hierarchical folder structures.
Comprehensive and easy authorization management
With ice.NET folders it is easy to assign access rights to bigger groups of
data items. Instead of maintaining ACLs of individual objects, ACLs assigned to
folders reflect universal control over groups of contained objects.
Experimental, project-oriented data
The ice.NET folder concept helps providing an environment for experimental data
in early engineering phases:
- Folders help to avoid name clashes in collaboration scenarios, where multiple
copies of the same data structures have to be provided for different teams in order
to collect design ideas.
- Internet Collaboration is supported by the folder concept and the possibility
to organize access-rights on bigger chunks of data.
- Folder provide the possibility to create private engineering sandboxes for
individual users to test and evaluate design approaches before the data is made
available for all system users.
